Greensleeves - Renaissance style
The all-famous English folksong Greensleeves, here performed in a distinct renaissance style by the Baltimore Consort.
Perhaps this is close to how it originally sounded?

Renaissance Rackett Collection - Part 12

The twelfth piece of my renaissance rackett collection. The rackett has always been one of my favourite renaissance instruments, and it's a shame its use declined so vastly into the Baroque era and beyond. Lately though, the rackett has seen a slight renaissance. :)

Passacaglia from King Arthur - Henry Purcell
Had I not known this was a Beethoven arrangement, I would have been genuinely surprised to hear it was! But upon reflection you can clearly hear Beethoven's tendency towards staccato to provide an aggressive, if jaunty, air to what is normally considered a more solemn and thoughtful song in these modern days. After doing a bit of research into the origins of Auld Lang Syne it has come to my attention that the original composition as it was among the Scots was more energetic and upbeat as portrayed in this arrangement. However its melody was deemed "mediocre" by Robert Burns, who would later begin to popularize the old folk song after altering the melody to more fit the modern (to the time) sensibilities. The truly modern rendition of the melody we know nowadays wouldn't be documented until nearly 1800 after being composed by George Thomson. (Edit: grammar)

Wonderful!
Happy New Year 2025! 🎆
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE 2025
This is amazing. Listened it for the 1st time in 2018. Cannot forget! ❤
I heard this musical melody, or maybe a similar one, while I was infected with Covid, in a state of high fever and delirium. Also songs mentioning a red deer; One day i will climb Kabnekajse
So fucking good!
Knew about these vids since around my childhood
Qué joya❤
Splendid!
just beautiful
OK, but that's a picture of a Baroque rackett. It sounds pretty different.

Gen X music
What kind of woodland instrument is played through this piece?
Maravillosa
This is Romanesca (chord progression base of Green Sleeves). Just like Follia to Händel's Sarabande.
This tune is old but gold! I really like it and think it's actually very good.
What is the name of this wonderful piece and who wrote it down?
People who are hating on this song aren’t the Ogs :\
Wunderschön! Und so majestätisch! Das ist die Musik, die ich liebe, wenn ich meine Königin zum Tanz auffordere!
Delicious music 😁 Great performance
Pay'd 40 ducats for this back in the good old days
La Romanesca
Starting song in "The draughtman's contract" by Peter Greenaway.
If it had a mean bass
I have only heard this instrument twice. And both are the same song? A conspiracy of some kind.
In the BBC programme The Alehouse Sessions this is sung by Mary Bevan. It's exquisite beauty is so moving
I think it's a bootleg.
Sounds mysteriously mystic ...
A bad copy of Lully's passacaglia for Louis XIV
ahahhaahah
That was quite distinct from the ice cream truck.
Thank you for sharing this brilliant.
Jag fäller faktiskt en tår!
It’s syne not zine. Since not zinse. You cannot expect good things in the coming year if you offend nature by substituting z for s. Do that often and you will be struck by lightning
Just imagine you're the wandering warrior walk around from every places

A melodia mais bela do renascimento ❤🎵🤍
Straight fire remember when this came out in the 1500s 😈😈🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵
Tunes that touch straight in my Norwegian soul. Even if our union with the Swedes dissolved in 1905, we have a lot of cultural heritage in common. Folk music is one of them.
Wives and daughters are crlwned
I lost my 1st pair of ye olde bloomers to this fire in the day. Ah, memories ❤
